Problem

  • Design an automated palletizing system for loading asymmetric leather and cloth fabric parts onto a micro-pallet for subsequent machine stitching of athletic footwear.
Solution: Fabric-Part Robotic Palletizer
  • A combined robotic and dedicated automation work cell that operates with high speed throughput and utilizes machine vision and flexible material handling techniques.
    • Three linear robots work cooperatively to 1) move fabric-parts from storage tray to vision inspection station; 2) pre-orient and move parts from inspection station to micro pallet; 3) spot glue to secure parts in place.

    • A four micro-pallet shuttle system with two transfer mechanisms ( an over/under transfer mechanism and a monorail transfer system).

    • A finished part escapement system using an ejector pin grid mechanism.
