Problem

  • Automate the loading of food product from a separate conveyor system into the foil pockets of a vacuum Tiromat TM conveyor system (food product is packaged as MRE's - Meals Ready to Eat -  for the DOD - Dept. of Defense):
    • Achieve high speed cycle rate of 60 pockets per minute
    • Reject product that is miss-shaped (too large or small or broken into bits)
Solution: Robotic Food Packaging System
  • A robotic food packaging system with a high speed 4 axis SCARA - Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm - that is clean room certified for the Food & Drug industry:
    • Integrated Machine Vision system with conveyor tracking determines orientation and down stream position of food product as it is moving on the conveyor
    • Unique stainless steel end effector can grab and release any shape food product into the foil pockets at high speed without damaging either
